MyPower is a demonstration product that was offered in Broome and Port Hedland. The purpose of the demonstration was to test the product, and if deemed appropriate roll it out across all Horizon Power regions. Throughout the demonstration period a number of key learnings were identified that resulted in the product being discontinued. One of the main learnings was that the product was considered too complicated. This important learning is being used to help us shape products into the future.

Practice period – November
The practice period will commence on 1 November and run until 30 November. During the practice period alerts and notifications will be in place, however no plan movements will occur. The practice period is there to help MyPower customers prepare for the peak season.

Peak season – 1 December – 30 April
The peak season for MyPower starts on 1 December and will run until 30 April. During this time alerts and notifications will be switched on and plan movements will be in place according to the product rules.

Alerts and notifications are sent during the peak period when customers go over their plan’s peak limit. Alerts and notifications will be sent to you via email and SMS, and you can continue to use our mobile app to monitor your energy usage.

Your plan will have an hourly electricity usage limit, this is known as your ‘peak allowance’.

Between 1pm-8pm.

  • Residential customers: Mon-Fri (peak allowance doesn’t apply on weekends or public holidays)
  • Business customers: Mon-Sun (peak allowance doesn’t apply on public holidays)

During an emergency event, Horizon Power may provide waiver of the peak period during emergency events. You will be notified if peak period has been suspended.

You will receive an alert via email and SMS every time you go over your peak, which will help you to manage your usage. If you go over your peak allowance three times, you will be notified via email. If you exceed a fourth time you will be automatically moved to a higher MyPower plan.
